Wisconsin Court of Appeals Affirms Victory for Grant Thornton in Accounting Malpractice Suit

On October 15, 2020, the Wisconsin Court of Appeals affirmed the summary judgment obtained by NGE in October 2019 on behalf of its client, Grant Thornton, a national accounting firm, and one of its managing directors, in an action alleging accounting malpractice following an appeal of the decision by the plaintiffs. The Court of Appeals conducted a de novo review and upheld all points of the trial court’s decision to grant summary judgment and dismiss the case last year.

Partners Andrew May and Jonathan Quinn defended Grant Thornton against the claims of the plaintiffs, a manufacturer of commercial-grade food equipment and its owner, that the failure to recommend an international tax planning strategy constituted negligent and fraudulent behavior.
