Kevin A. O’Connor, Ph.D., a partner in Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg LLP's Intellectual Property & Technology Transactions practice group, has been selected by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company as one of the "40 Illinois Attorneys Under 40 to Watch."
This honor recognizes those attorneys who demonstrate excellence in the legal profession and are viewed as the next generation of leaders and trailblazers by fellow attorneys. Individuals are selected based upon peer nominations.
Kevin represents clients in all aspects of patent law. He works on a broad spectrum of technologies in the biotechnological, pharmaceutical and medical device arts.
“It is a rare occurrence that I include outside counsel in internal discussions with the scientific teams at the company,” said Bradley E. Davis, in-house counsel at a major pharmaceutical company, “but Kevin’s sophistication in the chemical arts and his creativity in leveraging his deep understanding of patent law made him a respected and invaluable asset to the scientific team.”
Kevin received his Ph.D in Neuroscience from the University of Colorado. He authored 21 peer-reviewed journal articles and has presented his work at numerous national and international scientific meetings.
“Kevin has earned his clients’ trust,” said John Abramic with the Chicago law firm of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, “and demonstrated that he not only has the legal skills to navigate the highly complex world of pharmaceutical patent protection but also the business and communication skills to effectively advise his clients on the practical implications of their legal strategies.”
Kevin also donates his time and energy to advocacy for blood cancer research, and serves on the Leadership Board of the Illinois Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
