Neal Gerber Eisenberg is pleased to announce that founding partner Marshall E. Eisenberg is being honored by American Friends of the Hebrew University (AFHU) with the prestigious 2019 Jerold S. Solovy Torch of Learning Award. The Torch of Learning Award is presented to a leading individual who has influenced the course of higher learning in the United States and Israel.
Throughout his career, Eisenberg has served as a strategic advisor for diverse clients with substantial business and personal interests worldwide. He counsels companies and individuals on a broad range of complex transactions and strategies, including mergers and acquisitions; estate planning; and federal, state and international tax controversies. For nearly 30 years, Eisenberg has been named to the Best Lawyers in America list, an annual peer survey of lawyers.
“Marshall’s commitment to excellence in the practice of law has been a hallmark of our firm and something he has shared generously with clients and mentees alike,” said Scott J. Fisher, firm Managing Partner. “Throughout the years, Marshall has made a monumental impact through his leadership and unwavering devotion to the firm and to the broader legal community. We are incredibly proud to see him rightfully recognized with this distinguished honor.”
Eisenberg is highly regarded for his business acumen, frequently serving as a trustee for many families and a director of public and privately owned companies. Currently, as a member of the board of Sally Beauty Holdings (NYSE: SBH); he serves as the chair of the board’s Nominating, Governance and Corporate Responsibility committee.
The Torch of Learning Award is not the first time Eisenberg has been honored nationally. In 2006, Eisenberg received the American Jewish Committee’s Judge Learned Hand Award in recognition of his outstanding leadership in the legal profession and the community.
“Marshall’s leadership since the firm’s inception has been instrumental in shaping how the old and new guard interact at the firm. The caliber of work we do at Neal Gerber Eisenberg and our commitment to client service has been forged by his years of guidance and mentorship,” said current NGE partner Robert G. Gerber, the nephew of firm cofounder Charles E. Gerber. Eisenberg and Gerber along with Phil C. Neal founded Neal Gerber Eisenberg in 1986.
Eisenberg will be honored at the 2019 Jerold S. Solovy Torch of Learning Gala Dinner on Sunday, September 22, 2019, at the Ritz-Carlton Chicago.
