Ben represents policyholders in insurance coverage disputes and commercial litigation, helping clients secure the insurance protection they purchased and position claims for the strongest possible recovery. As an associate in the Insurance Policyholder, Litigation & Disputes and Trials & Appeals practice groups, he helps guide businesses through each stage of litigation, from pleadings and discovery through mediation, trial and appeal, with a focus on practical strategy and outcomes aligned with each client’s business goals.
Ben supports clients in coverage disputes involving commercial general liability, directors and officers, professional liability, property and other insurance lines. He assists with policyholder lawsuits in state and federal courts, helping develop litigation strategies, manage discovery and position matters for favorable outcomes via settlement, trial or appeal. Ben also works with clients before disputes arise, evaluating claims and coverage issues to help present claims effectively, identify potential gaps and support broader risk management objectives.
Ben brings an informed, forward-looking perspective to client service by staying closely attuned to developments affecting insurance coverage, litigation risk and emerging legal issues. His recent and upcoming speaking engagements address topics including How Generative AI is Rewriting the Rules & Risks of Litigation; How BIPA Coverage Decisions May Influence the Availability of CGL Coverage for Emerging GIPA Class Action Suits; and Assessing Risks and Valuing Cases. He is active in the American Bar Association’s Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (“TIPS”), where he serves as a Vice-Chair of the TIPS Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee and Co-Chair-Elect of the TIPS National Insurance Symposium Task Force. He is also a co-author of the “Duty To Defend” chapter of the IICLE Insurance Law guidebook.
Ben is also committed to pro bono service and to using his advocacy skills to support individuals and organizations in need. He has been recognized by the firm as a “Pro Bono All-Star” in 2020 and 2022–24 and serves on the firm’s Pro Bono Committee.
