Bruce is a business lawyer, and speaks to his clients in the language of business.  Over his nearly forty years of legal practice he has counseled businesses and their ownership and boards of directors in all aspects of their affairs, including mergers and acquisitions, data privacy and security, strategic alliances, financing transactions, distribution and supply arrangements, corporate governance, real estate leasing, acquisitions and divestitures, construction contracting, litigation strategies, intellectual property prosecution, licensing and enforcement, income tax analysis and planning, ownership relations, labor and employment matters and executive compensation planning.  His clients span industries that include manufacturing, distribution, software and technology, law, health care, broadcasting and construction, among others.

For decades, Bruce has aligned his practice with information technology advancements.  He assists clients in their development and delivery of IT-dependent products and services and the protection of their intellectual property rights, and he advises clients in their implementation of third-party IT solutions.   He counsels clients on cybersecurity and data breach response protocols, migrating to cloud services and developing their digital strategies. 

He also counsels software developers, data scientists, value-added resellers, Internet service providers and technology consultants in raising capital, licensing software, protecting intellectual property rights, complying with regulatory mandates, forming strategic alliances and acquiring technology.  In addition, he has developed a practice known in the construction industry and elsewhere for managing construction and relocations of commercial office space involving sophisticated IT planning and security.

Bruce is an active member of the Private Directors Association, focused on improvements in corporate governance in middle-market companies.  He was a founding member of the Chicago Bar Association’s Computer Law Committee, and is currently a member of the Illinois Technology Association and the International Technology Law Association.  He frequently addresses industry groups and has written numerous articles regarding corporate governance, general corporate and commercial matters, business transactions and technology issues.  Bruce is a member of the board of directors of a manufacturer with international operations.
