Alfred counsels clients on intellectual property and technology-related transactions. His experience includes structuring, drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial and technology contracts, including software-as-a-service (SaaS), platform-as-a-service (PaaS) and similar cloud services agreements and hosting arrangements; patent, trademark, software and other technology licensing agreements; intellectual property transfer agreements; outsourcing and professional services agreements; content and data licensing agreements; joint venture, strategic alliance and similar collaboration agreements; software development, reseller and marketing services agreements; and software escrow agreements. Alfred also regularly counsels clients in structuring and drafting website and mobile application terms of service, consumer-facing privacy policies and end user license agreements.

In addition, Alfred advises clients on data privacy and cybersecurity issues that arise within SaaS, cloud services and similar other technology-related agreements.  He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).  Alfred has also counseled clients on compliance with the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) and other data protection laws and regulations, from drafting and negotiating data processing agreements to navigating complex and wide-ranging data compliance issues.

Alfred also has experience advising on the intellectual property and technology aspects of various corporate transactions, particularly those involving mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and bankruptcy. His background in biological sciences and genetics and prior experience at a financial trading firm have helped him in assisting various technology-related businesses in many different industries, including pharmaceuticals, health care, finance, real estate, energy and natural resources, private equity and others.
