Jim is a member of the Real Estate Tax practice, specializing in representing and litigating on behalf of commercial, industrial, multifamily, and residential property owners across the nation. He focuses on appealing and reducing property tax assessments to ensure favorable outcomes for his clients.

Prior to joining private practice, Jim served as a Judicial Law Clerk at the Circuit Court of Cook County. More recently, he worked for the Honorable Thomas Mulroy, Commercial Calendar Section, conducting research and drafting judicial opinions and legal memoranda on breach of contract, fraud, property damage, and other commercial disputes. Additionally, he assisted the Honorable Daniel Kubasiak, Honorable James McGing, and Honorable Carl Walker of the Tax and Miscellaneous Remedies Section, where he researched and drafted judicial opinions and memoranda on tax, worker’s compensation, and other various remedies cases.

Jim is an active member of the Chicago Bar Association, serving on the Real Estate Taxation Committee – Assessment & Appeals subcommittee, and the Illinois Bar Association, serving on the State & Local Taxation Section.

Before joining NGE, James was an associate at Chicago-based Smith, Hemmesch, Burke & Kaczynski.
