Stacey is an associate in the Litigation & Disputes practice group. She represents clients in complex commercial matters at both the state and federal level. Stacey’s wide-ranging practice includes breach of contract actions; business torts; insurance coverage disputes; intellectual property, trade secret, copyright and trademark infringement cases; class action defense; product liability cases; and white collar crime and government investigations.
Stacey has experience with mediation in the insurance context, having served as lead associate in a matter in which she prepared statements and reviewed and analyzed documents pre-discovery. She drafts many sorts of memoranda, briefs, motions and pleadings, including FOIA complaints, motions to exclude, and research memoranda on legal questions pertaining to commercial litigations. Stacey also has experience performing document review for clients on discovery projects regarding trade secret, contract dispute, and business tort matters.
Before she became a lawyer, she acted as a law clerk for a plaintiff’s firm, coordinated discovery as a paralegal at a defense firm, and managed multimillion-dollar professional liability litigation as an analyst at an insurance company. In addition, she was an award-winning teaching fellow and the recipient of a Fulbright Award Grant.
She recently contributed to a pro bono victory in Illinois Appellate Court, researching and drafting portions of a custody brief that set precedent regarding the rights of non-biological parents in same-sex and different-sex couples.
In law school she was Research Assistant to Professor Martha Nussbaum. She was also a Student Advocate for the Edwin F. Mandel Legal Aid Clinic Mental Health Project from 2015–2017.
