Brett has significant experience in the areas of biotech, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and chemical and mechanical engineering. He has prepared and prosecuted patent applications on complex innovations in the life sciences industry, including extended release pharmaceuticals, antibodies and mesenchymal stem cells, and has managed multiple international patent portfolios.
Brett earned his Ph.D. in biochemistry and cell biology from Rice University in 2002, where he twice received the Natural Science and Mathematics Travel Award, and was a post-doctoral research fellow for two years at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He received his B.S., cum laude, from the University of Houston in 1996, and was named a Natural Science and Mathematics Fellow.
As a registered patent agent, Brett is qualified to prepare, file and prosecute patent applications on behalf of clients, and is authorized to practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) in patent matters.
