With many of our children coming home after having been at college, now is a good time to review whether you have a healthcare power of attorney in place for your adult child. Without a power of attorney, you would be limited in your ability to make healthcare decisions for an adult child, if needed. Further, under HIPAA laws, if your child were to be hospitalized, there would be limits on the ability of the hospital to talk with you regarding your child's health situation.
