Neal Gerber Eisenberg is pleased to announce that Intellectual Property partner Gregory J. Leighton has been named one of the 2019 “40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch” by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company.
This honor recognizes those attorneys who demonstrate excellence in the legal profession and are viewed as the next generation of leaders and trailblazers by fellow attorneys. Individuals are selected on the basis of peer nominations.
“As the head of our information governance and data privacy practice, Greg is an emerging leader at the firm in an ever-changing and increasingly complex area of law,” said Scott J. Fisher, Neal Gerber Eisenberg’s managing partner. “It’s been a pleasure to watch Greg develop his practice at the firm, and we are thrilled that he has been recognized as a member of this distinguished group.”
As a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US and CIPP/E) and a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) from the International Association of Privacy Professionals, Greg is a trusted counselor on domestic and international privacy issues. He regularly advises corporate and individual policyholders concerning insurance coverage issues and disputes. In addition, as a registered patent attorney, Greg manages complex intellectual property portfolios for companies and successfully represents clients in disputes before federal courts, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and the United States International Trade Commission.
“He understands business processes as well as law and is just as comfortable developing legal strategy and policies as he is in analyzing potential risks benefits of arcane technical licensing or governance requirements,” said Gary Friedlander, Senior Vice President, General Counsel at Transunion. “In addition, he is also a formidable patent attorney.” Jennifer Woods, Global Data Privacy counsel at The Kraft Heinz Company, adds, “I have been particularly impressed with Greg’s attention to practical, real-world solutions that prioritize defensible compliance while addressing client concerns about budget and resource allocation.”
Neal Gerber Eisenberg is committed to fostering a firmwide culture where our attorneys shine. The firm is proud that Greg Leighton’s dedication to the legal profession and his community has been recognized, and pleased that the Law Bulletin Publishing Company has once again chosen one of our own to be among the “40 Illinois Attorneys Under 40 to Watch” for the 10th consecutive year.
