Lawrence M. Benjamin’s practice is diverse and client-oriented, serving the needs of banks, mortgage and finance companies, property owners, developers, contractors, property managers, business owners, investment companies and others.
Larry has both wide-ranging litigation and transactional experience. He has tried cases in state, federal, bankruptcy and other forums. He has extensively litigated in the areas of complex commercial litigation, class actions, and a wide variety of banking issues and related litigation, including lender liability, fiduciary and trust litigation, securities litigation, retail and consumer finance claims, foreclosure and bankruptcy claims, lease financing, and fraudulent schemes.
Larry has broad and varied expertise in all aspects of real estate, including purchase and sale, leasing, finance, and construction and development matters. He has represented the owners of several landmark properties in downtown Chicago, including 900 N. Michigan Avenue, the Rookery Building and the Mather Tower.
Larry has helped many borrowers restructure their debts and reorganize their business and real estate properties, including Chapter 11 plans and deed-in-lieu transactions.
