James R. Baldwin is an associate counsel in Neal Gerber Eisenberg’s Intellectual Property & Technology Transactions practice group. A registered patent attorney, he has represented a variety of clients in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the areas of telecommunications, control systems, software systems, connected vehicles, signal processing, computer software, electronics, memory architecture and data analysis.
Prior to pursuing a career in patent law, James worked for an aerospace defense company, where he designed both hardware and software for systems installed in aircraft for VIP military transport, as well as dive computers for Special Forces. He was involved in all stages of the development process, from conception and design, to validation and implementation.
While in law school, James interned for the Department of Energy, where he worked with battery technology, and was the executive articles editor for the Chicago-Kent Journal of Intellectual Property. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering degree from Illinois Institute of Technology.
